Because downloading files involves many variables, you may encounter a variety of problems when downloading or installing CVBase DCV Software from CVBase's World Wide Web site. You may be unable to connect to CVBase's website, a file may download very slowly or stop downloading in the middle of transfer, an error message may appear when beginning to download, you may be unable to locate the DCV Software installer program after downloading it, or you may experience errors or unexpected behavior while installing a copy of the DCV Software you downloaded. Use the following troubleshooting guidelines to eliminate your problem.

File Stops Downloading During Transfer
If you're unable to download a file, do one or more of the following:

1) Download the file when there is less activity on the Internet (e.g., late in the evening, early in the morning, on weekends).

2) Make sure you have a good connection to the Internet and download the DCV Software from an alternative site that may have less activity. See the section "Where to Get The Free DCV Software On-line" below, for alternative sites.

3) If you had a problem while downloading DCV Software with more than one language dictionary, download first one language version and then download each language dictionary which has a smaller file size and may download as expected.

4) If you are connected to the Internet using a standard phone line, disable call waiting and check the line for clarity to make sure voice communication is free of noise and static.

5) Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance with your Internet connection.

6) If you are downloading from a business site, contact your network administrator to determine how to configure your computer to download from behind a firewall, if one exists.

7) Contact the manufacturer of your Web browser to verify the software is working as expected and is not damaged or configured incorrectly.

8) Use a different Web browser.

9) Make sure your hard drive has enough free hard disk space for the file you are downloading. To increase free hard disk space, delete unnecessary files and applications, then use a disk utility to defragment the hard disk.

Finding the File After Downloading It
If you are unable to locate the file after you download it, do one or more of the following:

1) Find the file by name, then move it to a convenient location for installation (e.g., desktop). The filename appeared when you downloaded the file (e.g., dcvgb10.exe, dldgb.exe).

- In Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0, choose Start > Find > Files or Folders, than type the filename in the Named text box, then click Find Now.

- In the Windows 3.1x or Windows NT 3.5x File Manager, choose File > Search, type the filename in the Search For text box and "c:\" in the Start From text box, then click OK.

2) Consult the documentation or technical support for your communications software (e.g., Web browser) to determine the default directory in which it stores downloaded files.

NOTE: When downloading from a browser, the browser normally prompts you for a location to which to save files, and it provides a default filename. To ensure you can locate downloaded files, specify the desired location and filename before downloading.

If the problem persists, please contact CVBase using the contact information.

Errors or Unexpected Behavior When Installing DCV Software from Downloaded Installer
If you receive an error message or experience unexpected behavior while running the DCV installer, do one or more of the following:

1) Verify that your hardware and system software meet the requirements specified for the version of the Software you downloaded.
System Requirements for DCV Software
System Requirements for CAT-CAP Demo Software

2) Copy the file to another computer that also meets the file's system requirements, then run it. If the file generates errors or exhibits unexpected behavior, it is likely damaged, so you should redownload it. If the file runs or installs as expected, the system configuration on the original computer is likely interfering with installation.

3) Because the installer may have been damaged when you downloaded it, move it to another location, then redownload it. For example, an error message stating that the file "is not a valid Win32 application" often indicates the file is damaged. Redownload the file, or ask a friend to try downloading it for you from a different computer, then move the file to your computer using a floppy disk, Iomega Zip cartridge, etc.

4) When installing DCV Software on a shared installation of Windows, install it onto each user's workstation or into each user's directory. You cannot install a shared copy of DCV Software onto a network drive for use by multiple users.

5) Contact the manufacturer of your Web browser for assistance, especially when that software is producing error messages (e.g., "Internet Explorer does not know how to open this type of file.").

If the problem persists, please contact CVBase using the contact information.
